A Blog..What Is That?

Here you will find information about blogs and how I will use a blog in your child's classroom.

This year your child and I will be posting items on the classroom blog to document our learning and special moments.

Below is a helpful video that explains all about blogs and why they are used. I can't wait to use this powerful learning and communication tool in your child's classroom.

If you would like to see how a classroom blog was used throughout the year please visit my kindergarten classroom blog from last year.

Room 115's Blog Features!

Wow, I had fun working on our classroom blog. Every day I find new items to add or create. I am so excited for your family to use the blog and see how great it is to be in second grade. There are many features that will help you stay connected with the learning happening in our room. Below are some helpful information about the features on the blog.

1.Pages:
Below the header you will find the different pages in the blog: Home, Classroom Information, A Blog...What Is That?, The Learners In 115 and Meet Me!. These pages will stay up all year long and include new information regularly. I will also add additional pages based on our units of studies or special events.

Click on the “Home Page” to go back to the main posting page which has important dates, activities, and information about your child's day and learning.

2. Subscribe To:
This feature is located on the top right hand side of the blog. Click on the link to subscribe to this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email. This way you will never miss a moment of our learning!!

3. Listen Now:
Now your child can enjoy our classroom blog all by themself. At the top of each post is the "Listen Now" icon. Please click on the icon to have the post or page read aloud to you. This feature will encourage students to search all the powerful features of our classroom blog with confidence. Please show your child the newest feature and watch them explore freely!

4. Labels:
This feature allows for followers and viewers to locate a certain post. Each post will have a label and be filled under the name/names so that you can find it quickly instead of looking through all the past posts.

5. Recent Comments:
I love this feautre! Under each post is a comment section. Parents, friends and students can write something for our class to read. After the comment is posted, it will show up on the side bar for everyone to read.

6. Visitor Location Map:
This feature allows the students to see who is interested in our learning. As the year goes on the red dots will become larger to show where and how many times our blog has been viewed.

I will update often so make sure you keep coming back. :)

This is my second blog so please feel free to offer suggestions, advice and comments that will help the classroom blog be the best it can be.
